Documentary: Clarissa's Battle

Clarissa's Battle holds a special place in my heart because it was the first feature-length documentary I worked on. I organized footage, pulled selects, transcribed interviews, reviewed recent cuts, and helped with social media promotion. The film tells the story of Clarissa Douthard, an Oakland-based activist, organizer, and mother, as she fights for the right to childcare in Alameda County and the United States.

 

It's been wonderful to observe this vital film make its way to film festivals across the US and abroad, especially since I was involved in drafting the product, which eventually made it onscreen. This experience taught me that the production work I love could be made all the more meaningful if it's for a good cause.
